Risks & Complications

This is a short list - there are so many more!

  • Severe glare, halos, starbursts, or loss of contrast sensitivity, Particularly problematic for night driving.
  • Permanent loss of vision
  • Vision remains worse than before surgery even with glasses or contact lenses.
  • Corneal ectasia
  • Retinal detachment (especially in RLE patients under the age of 50)
  • Flap displacement, folds (striae), or improper healing.(LASIK)
  • Severe dry eyes - for life, not just a few months!
  • Chronic pain, burning, visual fluctuation, and reduced quality of life.
  • Corneal Neuralgia
  • Corneal haze (especially after LASEK/PRK)
  • Overcorrection or undercorrection, requiring further surgery, glasses, or contact lenses. Often impossible or difficult to fully correct

You only get one pair of eyes, don’t let Optimax ruin them!
